Programs

We offer a number of cohort-based learning programs and intensives for both faculty and graduate students.

FACULTY PROGRAMS

Foundations of Course Design

Are you designing a new course or redesigning an existing course? During the Foundations of Course Design (FoCD) Intensive, we work through the course design process and focus on 1) articulating your course vision and purpose, 2) developing course learning outcomes, 3) planning your summative assessments, and 4) outlining experiences to support student learning. FoCD prioritizes hands-on application and provides opportunities to receive feedback from peers and Trefny colleagues.

NEW FACULTY LEARNING COMMUNITY

Are you a new to teaching at Mines? Are you interested in discussing teaching and learning with peers? The New Faculty Learning Community is a space where faculty can come together, discuss their courses, receive support from peers and Trefny Center colleagues, and learn about a variety of teaching strategies. We encourage new faculty (or those who started at Mines over the past several years) to join us!

Graduate & Postdoctoral programs

College Teaching Certificate Program

Are you a graduate student or postdoc who is interested in teaching and learning? The College Teaching Certificate (CTC) Program is a yearlong, application-based learning cohort that is open to any and all graduate students and postdocs who are interested in developing their teaching practice within the contexts of higher education. Participants will leave the program with hands-on teaching experience and a diverse portfolio that includes a teaching statement, statement of diversity, a sample lesson plan, and an original course syllabus. With an emphasis on peer learning and review, the CTC program is specifically designed to foster community and mentorship among graduate students and to provide participants with well-rounded professional development for a future teaching career in higher education.
