Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) are organized clusters of faculty who are focused on a particular teaching challenge or innovation, working to support each other to learn and enhance one’s teaching. PLCs have been proven to be a highly supportive and effective method for teacher professional learning that lead to increased student success: "A learning-enriched teachers’ workplace appears to be linked to better student academic progress…and students achieved at higher levels in schools with positive professional communities" (Stoll, Bolam, McMahon, Wallace, & Thomas, 2006).
