The Colorado School of Mines is pleased to offer a monthly Reading Club for faculty, staff and students to come together, and read an important book that has applications to all members of the Mines community.  This Reading Club was founded by Dr. Roel Snieder, and this year is being coordinated by Timeri Tolnay at the Trefny Innovative Instruction Center.  We read one book per semester, and meet monthly to discuss chapters consecutively.
Spring 2017 Book:
History of the Mines Reading Club:

The book club at Mines started when Roel Snieder started interacting with John Medina who wrote his fabulous book “Brain Rules.” John give a seminar at Mines, and as a parallel initiative we got a group of colleagues together to discuss his book. In doing so we discovered the value of sharing our impressions, but also a sense of community by meeting regularly. This led to the idea to continue the book club. With the help of Pamela Kraus, Roel has continued organizing book a club at Mines that covered topics that touch us at a deep personal level. It has been a rewarding experience to organize these book clubs, step out off the busy-ness of the day, and to get to know Mines colleagues in new ways.
